Although weddings tend to be a lot about the bride, the truth is that many grooms are more than happy to bring their own personality into their wedding as well. After all, it does take two to make a wedding, so why wouldn’t the groom receive at least some attention?

A Groom’s Cake is a great idea if you want your Big Day to be about both of you. If you are considering the option, make sure to read on because we have gathered some very interesting tips you may want to keep in mind:

  • ·         Grooms’ Cakes are not as “new” as you may think they are. In fact, some specialists say that Grooms’ Cakes originated in the 17th century. Traditionally, they were paid by the parents of the groom and they were sliced and packed for the guests to take home. Some people also say that if an unmarried lady placed the pastry under her pillow, she would dream of her future husband.
  • ·         Of course, these days Grooms’ Cakes are less traditional than that. In fact, they are very often an opportunity for the bride and groom to break from tradition and showcase a fun, unique cake for their guests. Some ideas include cakes that are inspired by hunting, fishing, sports or even cars, while other ideas simply add a fun twist to the entire idea of marriage (e.g. cakes topped with miniature brides “dragging” their grooms).
  • ·         If you are worried that your Groom’s Cake may outshine the actual wedding cake, you should know that serving it at the wedding rehearsal dinner has become quite common. Even more, you can always choose two wedding cakes to “complement” each other as well – one for “her” and one for “him”.
